In conversation with Branford Marsalis

Held every three years in a different country the World Saxophone Congress celebrates everything to do with the saxophone focusing primarily (although not exclusively) on the performance of classical saxophone music. The sixteenth World Saxophone Congress took place 10-15 July 2012 in St Andrews, Scotland, directed by Richard Ingham.

Branford Marsalis is one of the most recognisable names in saxophone performance today. His performances and recordings in the jazz, rock and classical worlds are renowned. Branford talks to Jim Muirhead about his life as a jazz saxophonist, his contributions to seminal rock albums, and his dedication for some years now to the classical repertoire.

The Tenor Saxophone Index is honoured to have Branford Marsalis as one of its Partons!
